What is an ephemeris table?
An ephemeris lists planetary positions over time. This monthly table gives one row per day at your selected local time, using the tropical zodiac. Each planet’s cell shows its degree within a sign and any motion marker. It is a sky-position reference, so you do not need to enter anyone’s birth data.
How to use this tool
- Use the month arrows to choose the period you want to examine. The table starts with the current month.
- Choose a location and a daily local time. The city supplies its time zone; without a city, the table uses your browser’s time zone. Check the context line above the grid.
- Open Choose planets to add outer planets or points. Scroll sideways for extra columns, select a day to highlight its row, or open the table full screen.
How to read a planetary position
Read the degree together with the zodiac sign: 10°30′ in Aries is ten degrees and thirty arcminutes into Aries, not ten degrees of celestial latitude. Compare consecutive rows in the same column to follow that planet’s movement.
Gold marks a change of sign between sampled days. Rx marks retrograde motion, D direct motion and S a station when reported. A daily snapshot can show that a change happened between rows; it does not give the exact minute of an ingress or station. Use transits when you want to compare those moving positions with a natal chart.
Before interpreting the result
The chosen time is a daily sample, not a continuous timeline. Changing the time zone changes the actual instant represented by each row; the clock change for daylight saving time is applied through that zone. This table does not include houses, aspects or a Moon phases section.
Common questions
Why can two ephemerides show different degrees for the same day?
Check the sampling time, time zone and zodiac. A table for midnight UTC and one for midnight in Paris do not represent the same instant. This table uses the tropical zodiac.
What is the ST column?
ST stands for sidereal time. It is a separate time reference used in astronomical and chart calculations, not the daily local clock time you selected.
Does selecting a city turn this into my birth chart?
No. The city supplies the table’s time zone and calculation location. To calculate a personal chart with houses and aspects, use the birth chart tool.
