Astrology aspects FAQ

Does the course describe aspects as good or bad?

The lesson Two Categories of Aspects distinguishes challenging aspects, such as squares and oppositions, from harmonious aspects, such as trines and sextiles. It explains why these categories are not simply good and bad: demanding aspects can support change, while ease can sometimes lead to complacency.

Will I learn how orbs work in astrology?

Yes. The course introduces orbs as an allowed margin around an aspect’s exact angle. Applicable Orbs uses a Venus–Saturn conjunction as an example and compares tighter and wider orbs. It also explains that permitted orbs vary by astrologer, software, aspect type, and planet; AstroLingo takes its applicable orbs into account when displaying aspects.

Does the course teach how to read an aspect table?

Yes. You learn to choose one planet’s row, follow another planet’s column, and read the aspect at their intersection. The Aspect Table lesson walks through Mercury conjunct Saturn with a 0.99° orb. Dedicated practice lessons then ask you to find cells and recognize their aspect glyphs.

Which minor aspects are included in the course?

The minor-aspect lessons introduce the semi-square (45°), sesquiquadrate (135°), semi-sextile (30°), and quincunx (150°). They cover the glyphs and symbolism of these four aspects, followed by recognition practice. The course specifically helps you distinguish the semi-sextile glyph from the quincunx glyph.

Can I practice finding aspects in a complete birth chart?

Yes. The course includes three full-chart spotting exercises. You tap a planet to isolate its aspect lines, then identify the planet connected by the requested aspect. The first exercise includes Moon trine Venus, Jupiter opposite Uranus, and Jupiter square Pluto, moving beyond the simplified two-planet illustrations.
